background: 16, female, sexually active, caucasian, never been pregnant, never contracted an std.
symptoms: spotting, ovarian cysts, cramping not related to menstration, pain during intercourse, occassional bleeding after intercourse, change in appetite, depression I've had these cysts since august 08. I was put on the patch, though it didnt help. I had several episodes of unexpected spotting, and near december/january/february it felt like i had horrible cramps from morning to night, sharp pains when i sneezed or moved my pelvic muscles, and achy pains when i passed a bowel movement and urinated. i returned to my small town doctor, this time for an ultrasound, the pelvic ultrasound was very painful but thankfully i had it done because it revealed a cyst .9 cm on my left ovary and three enlarged follicles on my right [though im fairly certain they werent large enough to qualify as cysts. my mom tried to read the report the tech wrote and she saw the word endometrial tissue on there. . anyway, she took me off the patch and put me on the pill, its round and yellow but idk what brand, but my cramps are still here.so im wondering if that layer of muscle is what caused the cyst or if i have endometriosis because my aunt developed it when she was my age and had to have a hysdirectomy [spelling?] in her early twenties. i feel like the cysts should not give me this much trouble. i have a gut feeling that it might be something more but we're tight on money so i dont want to have extensive tests if not needed. i know ovarian cancer is pretty far fetched but i want to make sure one way or the other since most ovarian cancers are diagnosed in the advanced stages. if you think i should go to a different doctor or if i should stop overreacting, PLEASE tell me. Hiya. and well done for having the good sense for trying to get to the bottom of this. It is extremely unlikely that this is cancer. Firstly because it is so rare and particularly at such a young age. However you do need to know exactly what this is.. and if you cant get any understandable sense out of your doctor then go for a second opinion. You will be worrying until you know and rightly so.. Best of luck and do let us know how you get on.. Big hug to you. Inka xxx
