I had a hystectomy 10 years ago, mother had malignant breast cancer. My doctor thought I had a hernia due to my pain and swelling in abdimon and sent me to surgeon. He said no hernia but I have a 2.2 centimeter cyst on my right ovary. Are the risks of cancer higher for me?

" From what you have said the answer is 100% No. The chances are hugely stacked in favour of this being a simple cyst. You would need two or more of your imediate family to have had ovarian cancer, to be at a slightly higher risk, than the rest of the population. But that doesn't mean you aren't going to worry and need to be reassured.

What test's did the surgeon carry out and were they conclusive, or are they going to do further tests?

Hope this helps.. Best wishes.. Inka xxx "
