Stopping My Heart

View More Posts Ignore
Hi this is my first message in this group, my heart has been going to fast, it apparently is out of sync, which has been making me on times feel faint and quite breathless. So the plan is to stop my heart then to re-start it using the paddles, which then hopefully will put it back into sync. So my ? is has anyone had this done, and was it successful, and did it solve the problem. Thanks

PS. my name is Viv and I am a male the reason I mention this because it can be male or female helps to stop any confusion Lol

" Hi... I had the cardioversion done with the paddles to try and get my heart back into rhythm, but it didnt work. Eventually I was in atrial flutter. I had to get a pace maker and had a total AV node ablasion. It worked great and I am fine now.
How is it going for you? "

" That is called syncronized cardioversion. we use it for quite a few different arrthymias depending on the severty the patient is in. Usually it works, occasionally it doesn't. Depending on the heart rythym and the actual pulse rate there are medications that can be used to do the same thing, your body actually produces that medication naturally, it's just that sometimes it needs a little extra. As far as solving the problem, it might. But you will probably have to be on medications to help your body not get into that situation again. Good luck! "
