I'm sorry. I do not know anything about it. I did not want you to think you were being ignored, so I thought I would answer anyway. Please let us know what you find out though. JOAnn

I have IST, which stands for insufficient sinus tachycardia. At least that's the diagnosis in my file now. Years ago, when I had an electrophysiology (EP) study, he said I had 2 extra electrical pathways and called it ectopic atrial tachycardia. I asked the nurse why he changed it, and she said it's basically the same thing, just another term (it sure doesn't sound the same when I google them, though, so I'm confused).
Anyway, I've been on the same med for almost 15 years now, and it works for me. It's called Toprol or metoprolol. Did you have an EP study to diagnose yours? Did the doc explain the diagnosis to you and what it is? What meds have you tried so far? Hope your appointment goes well, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Yes, I have that listed on my halter monitor results and the primary didn't medicate for it, he said it is only treated with meds if the person is actually falling down and passing out: when I went to a cardiologist shortly thereafter, he put me on Tenormin. Initially, I felt some relief from the thumping, but by the end of the day it was more or less worn off and I had the sensations badly in the evening instead. The medication started affecting my mood so I stopped it. I was put on different meds and he dropped the medication. So, to tell you the truth, it doesn't seem to respond well to beta blockers. I still have it and it is most annoying but I think I have learned to just learn to live with it...I wonder if others develop the same attitude after a few negative experiences with this disorder...!
