I sometimes get really dark circles under my eyes. Usually worse in the mornings. It really effects my daily life. I feel insecure about my appearance and get very discouraged. I have tried lots of different creams and other things, but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

" Dark circles can be inherited because of thin skin there. It is very common to have a lack of collagen in the tissue under the eye. A few things that make it worse is rubbing very hard, leaving makeup on over night, and tiredness.

One thing that works is a Vaseline and honey mixture.

Otherwise, use concealer! "

" ugh it's so irritating when people say "you just need sleep!" or "just use concealer!" I've had this problem for years, no matter if I get sleep or drink lots of water or use vaseline.... I hear there are laser treatments that help, but my dermotologist said that it may cause more problems later on. I guess we're stuck with wearing make up at all times or just dealing with people asking if we're ok all the time. "

" I have had this ever since I was in my 20s. A lot of it is inherited. Check back a generation if you don't see it in your mother. I agree that no amount of sleep, healthiness, water intake, or creams and skin treatments work. It is a combination of pigment and thin skin, basically. Rubbing will make it worse, as do allergies that effect the eyes and sinus areas. Illness seems to make it appear worse, but I think that is because all the skin of the face may look more pale after an illness. Find a hypoallergenic makeup (so you don't irritate your eyes even more). I like a "pancake" type so I can apply is lightly and evenly with a sponge or sponge-tipped applicator. Remove it each evening. Don't rub the area hard. Just smile big and use some med. eye shadow on the upper lid. It helps balance the look and take the emphasis off the under eye area. Be beautiful from the inside out. "

" I have had dark cirlces inder my eyes. Sometimes my father-in-law will comment on them...saying how they look worse on certain days, etc....how nice of him, huh??! Anyway...mine can be worse when I am tired. I have been anemic and that makes them worse too....but now that I am not anemic, they are alot less noticable. A dermatologist I was seeing told me that my dark circles and eczema is connected???? It is hereditary on my biological father's side. My niece (through marriage) has dark circles and hers were due to allergies. I guess several reasons can cause it. "
