My osteoporosis might have worsened

Hi, my name is Jen and I'm brand new here. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at 43 when I was hospitalized for another problem (I'm 46 now).
I have been taking Actonel for 2 1/2 years now along with calcium (plus D) supplements. No bad side effects except for heartburn, but I had heartburn before I started Actonel, it just got a little worse while on Actonel.
My doctor took a height measurement on me and found out I have shrunk 1 inch since my diagnosis. He ordered a DEXA scan, then I was called in to do a repeat scan, and the tech were running around asking each other questions.
They also kept asking me if I was wearing any metal of any sort, I wasn't, I know that interferes with the scan (I am worried they seen something on the scan).
I guess my question is, what drugs do they give you IF your osteoporosis has gotten worse? Do current fractures show up on the DEXA scan?
Sorry if this was long-winded. I had a lot of questions and I'm a bit worried.
Thanks,
Jen

" I was diagnosed a year ago so Im fairly new to this as well.
I would think that if you have got worse they will change the meds.
I dont think a dexa scan shows up fractures.
Sorry I cant tell you any more,I hope the scan shows that your condition has improved. "

" I found out that my bone density got a little worse, meaning the Actonel may not be helping me. So my doc decided we are going to do a repeat bone density test in one year to see where I'm at.
He said if it gets worse at that time, he might refer me to an endocrinologist or a rhematologist . "

" I see an endocrinologist for my osteoporosis and am on yearly IV Reclast because the monthly oral meds weren't helping. "
