Anyone have a clue about why vitamin D is low? I think mine should have been tested a long time ago when I had osteopenia. Now have osteoporosis in hips. But have been on calcium supplements for about 5 years.

The National Osteoporosis Foundation is the best source for answers. It's www.nof.org. It is quite common and often has a genetic component.

Thanks for so much help with understanding what is going on with me! Since mom is adopted, I don't know anything about her family and know very little about my father's relatives in NJ. Lost contact with some, and many passed away.
