" I have very severe OA in my knees. I need knee replacements but can't have them because of lymphedema from cancer treatment. I also can't take the usual medicines for pain relief, other than Tylenol, because of blood thinners I'm on. I've heard that building up the muscles surrounding the knees to support them better is a good thing. The Arthritis Foundation has a DVD on Tai Chi, and also another DVD which exercises the entire body. A visit to a physical therapist for exercises would be good. Injections into the knees can also be given at an orthopedic office. Bracing of the knees is another option, also by the orthopedist. Best of luck. "

" Have your heard about viscosupplementation (hyaluronic acid formulations). They are injections and have had some success with hips and I believe with knees as well.
There is also a natural product called "Boswellia" for pain and inflammation - used in Europe for years and I found it helped with my hip. "

" Hi, I had surgery on the left knee and my doc says TAKE the glu-chondr. stuff everyday, plus calcium cause I need it. also he had me on celebrex but I got very sick on it so now I have Voltaren cream to put on the knee four times a day. I had some inflammation and he put a shot right into my knee, wow that seemed to help, less stiff and moving better.
Hope this helps you!
