4th Compression Fracture

Well, this makes my 4th compression fracture now in 10 years. What makes this one different is the terrible pain and spasms that it's causing.

I'm on some pretty heavy pain killers and I've been in bed with this for 12 days now. My Internist says the reason is that this one in high (between my shoulder blades) and a lot more of my muscle is involved.

The spasms are the worst! It doesn't take much to get them started and once they start, they won't stop.

The doctor said that this will take another inch from my height (now up to 5") and he's worried about my rib cage compressioning down, giving me more lung problems (I already have COPD).

Anyone else with compression fractures with advice on what is best to help stop the hurting?

Susie

" Thank you for your thoughts. I'm feeling better today, the spasms have almost stopped and I'm just taking it easy.

When I stopped in at the pharmacy, to pick up my pain medication, I told the clerk, "This is what osteo does to you, it's not like in the commercials where women go on like there is nothing stopping them. This is the real "osteo"

" Well, I'm now on complete bed rest and on muscel relaxants and pain meds. I can barely get up to go to the bathroom.

My internal med doctor sez that if it's not better by Friday, he wants to check for tumors.

I'm in so much pain with this, I can't stand much more. I've just come out of a terrible RA flare, and now this.

Do things ever get better?

" The spasms are back, stronger then ever. I called my doctor (internal) and was told by his assistant that there was nothing more that he could do for me. What now? Do I have to live in this pain?
