Osteopenia

Hi everyone - I am new to this group and was hoping someone could help me out. I was recently diagnosed with "osteopenia", which is pre-osteoporsis. My doctor told me to get on calcium & vitatim D tablets. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what is out there? Are there different kinds? My doctor told me to take the vitamin D & calcium pills at different times since the viamin D helps absorb the calcium. A little confusing, as the nurse was talking so fast. Anyone have any advice or recommendations? Thank you so much.

" I have osteopenia. I take Vitamin D 1,000mg daily along with cod liver oil for its type of Vitamin D. I take life brand cal/mag (elemental calcium) 1,500mg daily at night to help me sleep too. The cal/mag is a natural relaxer too. I walk daily with a weight vest, and this has increased bone density. Walking with weights is a surer way to get weight bearing exercise. Weight bearing is very important with Osteopenia diagnosis. Also have almonds to help bones grow stronger. I too am new to this group. "
