Im 17 years old, just turned 17 actually. Iv had osteoporosis for a long time now and I didnt know it. Iv broken my ankle four times, and sprained it 6 times and then broke my back. We thought, hhhmmm....maybe somethin is wrong. We got checked at a bone specialist and he said yeah, my bones are deteriorating. I cant drink milk, lactose intolerant, but when I try to eat dairy products the calcium doesnt stick to my bones like it should so I have no pertection. He set me on IV treatments, worse experience of my life and after three of them he said they are experimenting on actonel and they dont know if it would work on children or not but he tried it anyways. It worked but then I kept forgetting to take it. Now he's gone and I asked my regular doctor for a renewal and she gave me fosomax I think. Im just introducing myself and my story here, but I was also kind of wondering, what do you think is in my future??

" You have your life ahead of you so stay positive. My advice...eat well, start excercising to help build up your bones along with taking calcium and vitamin D. You (and your bones) still growing. Take your medice as prescribed. Use a calendar to help you remember. Watch for side effects and let your doctor know if it doesn't feel right. I might be helpfull to go to an endocrinoligist or at least have your regular doctor check your hormones.

Okay, I just read your profile and realized how much you had to go through as such a young age. You must be a very strong lady to be able to deal with all these and have the courage to talk/write about it.
My heart goes out to you. Hope you find in your soul what can truly help your heart to lift your spirit while you take care of your health. "

" I am so sorry that you have all these problems as such a young age.
At your age your bones are still growing and if you take the calcium/vit D, try and eat really well, lots of veg (they are full of calcium)if you cant have dairy foods look for calcium fortified foods, soya milk for instance, orange juice is sometimes fortified as is apple juice.Do lots of exercises and get as much advice as you can.
I agree that you should see an endocrinoligist for some more advice, I havnt seen one yet I am going next week. I have had problems with the medication and I arnt taking anything at the moment so I am hoping he can suggest something,

If I can be of any help please get in touch, "
