There was a programme on TV about cats purring, apparently they dont suffer the same amount of broken bones, get arthritis etc., as other animals.I didnt know that they purr for all sorts of things, not just when they are happy.
They have discovered that the vibration is helping with osteoporosis, they put astronauts onto vibration platforms to build their bones up after being weightless in space. I do know a couple of people who use these and they are having good results.
Have a look at this website and it tells you a bit about it.

" Hi have a Shuatsu vibrating vest.
This helps with my asthma and when I am in a total melt down.

I can be in a terrible place mentally or physically and this vest moves me to a NOTICABLY different place.

I have mild autism and some other issues. It' pulls me out of that terrible place autism can cause.

I also watched a show on cats, birth process and about purring.

The show explained the hormones and other pain killing chemicals are released when a cat purrs.

So this really makes sense.

NOW, how do we get a vibrating matress for a 10 minute vibrating treatment for Osteoperosis? "

" Thanks for all the info, Bonnyfitz and Animalheadbutts. I heard about the benefits of vibration last year and checked out the machines. They were different machines than the ones you're talking about here and the website I found stressed that some of the weight loss vibrators are set too high so may not help bone growth and could even hurt it.

I'll try to find the links. Apparently it does have to be the right vibrational strength. "

" Thanks for all the replies, I just thought it was very interesting, I know that they are expensive,Myridia I didnt know that they had to be a certain strength though, interesting!!
They sometimes have them on one of the shopping channels, wonder if they would know!
I do know one person who has one,(not personnally, shes on one of the forums) but she paid over £1,000 for it,shes had it for 18 months and her bones are now stronger. I couldnt afford to do that though!! "

" What about using a regular (relatively cheap )body massager, the kind you get at Walgreen's, etc.? Do you think that would work? "

" I dont really know about that argus,I only know 1 person who uses one of these machines and she said to be careful which one to get and dont use the cheap ones, you would have to use one that worked on the whole body, you need to go on them everyday so if you were only doing one part it would take all day!!
I like the idea of the vibrating vest but that would only do that area! "

" I bought the vest for asthma and then found it also altered my emotional state. If I'm in a rough emotional state likely due to autism, it makes a huge difference.

I did see a full body vibrating matt, although I don't know if it's the correct amount of hrz. "
