I have been to the drs today re Fosomax,I told him my concerns about taking it and asked if I could hve Strontium, he said they didnt prescribe it and ask again in 2 years!!
Apparently my bones are in a bad state and he said I would have to take something and said to take the fosomax and see how I go on it, there are millions on it who dont have a problem so he said there was little reason why I should have problems.I am still reluctant and am going to speak to my dentist first.
Did you know that in a couple of years there will be a new drug out Denosumab which will be 40% cheaper.

" I'm glad to see this thread is still active. I still haven't had the dental work done. I have a bridge that's holding the crown in place and that's working fine for now. If it becomes a problem, I'll consult with a dentist. The one who did the original work has moved away!

I've never tried Strontium, but I was on Forteo and that didn't seem to be working. Plus there were some weird side effects with regard to calcium intake. I had to have approval to get the Forteo, but it was my first osteoporosis drug. I didn't try Fosamax until the Forteo side effects became too much--and my insurance stopped paying for it. Also, I wasn't happy with Forteo's warnings about bone cancer in the test rats.

I guess any drug we take will have some down side. It's a question of finding the one with the least.

Good luck all! Stay in touch. "

" They want me to go of this stuff. It sounds freaky. The only thing I've got that is worth two hoots in hell is a sound set of teeth. "

" Is anyone aware of a natural fix for osteoporosis. I really dont like taking the medication that I have been given due to the strange taste I have in the mouth, I feel like I have been sucking on paper. Odd as that sounds, has anyone else had this experience? "
