I'm 26 and I found out about six months ago that I have osteoporosis. I recently fractured my tibia from running. I want to keep exercising to lose my college beer gut but now I'm kind scared that that I am going to fracture something else. If anyone knows of any good exercises that I could do while minimizing my risk of further fractures that would be great. Also, I have been taking Vitamin D supplements (1000UI) a day and my vitamin D levels are still incredibly low. Is there anything else I can do besides supplements and sun to get more vitamin D.

" Have you tried core exercises? There are many different ways to do them and they will help firm your belly. I used the AbLounger as I can not do a sit up.. only head moves due to neurological damage. It does work on the all the abs. I also work with light weights to strengthen bones.

Here is one place with video for core exercises

Are you taking calcium with your D vitamin? I am taking vitamin D3 also. I also take one supplement with Calcium and D combined. (one less pill to swallow) I know these all work together to protect and strengthen the bones.

Hope this helps. "
