" You'd better get a handle on this NOW or you'll be in deep trouble as you age. Didn't your doctor give you any advice??

For one thing, you need to eat things that are rich in Vitamin D, Vitamin C. You should take supplements with iron, but make SURE they have Vitamin D with iron! Drink milk and eat dairy products, i.e. cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. There are many vitamin C and vitamin D rich products. Get some sun too ~ but watch that you aren't overdoing it, as skin cancer is something we have to be careful of. You should be walking and doing some weight bearing exercises ~ as much as you can tolerate.

You should ask your doctor what else you should be doing. Not knowing the extent of your osteoporosis, it's hard to advise. I would think that it would be minimal. Also, I think I would get a SECOND OPINION. God bless, and take care. Hugs, Lee "

" I know where you are coming from. I was diagnosed last year at 30 yrs. I believe it was present earlier on an x-ray but was not told by a doctor outright. My younger sister also has it, she is 26. I wasn't told much except for I am very petite, have always been underweight, and for some reason my body does not absorb calcium/magnesium. I take 4 Cal-Mag sup by Nutura every day, and so far I do not have any further visible on x-ray depletion that I know of. My Dr wants to sched a bone scan for extent of the loss but I'm not ready to know, and I'm not taking one of those bone loss prescriptions. I hope your well. "
