Advice:
Medicare coverage ending, cost of drugs daunting

This August 13th will mark three years since my transplant and also the end of Medicare coverage for me. I've had it since dialysis and now I'm wondering how I'm going to afford the anti-rejection drugs I'm taking. I'm covered by a Blue Shield PPO but it has been my secondary insurance, paying for the 20% Medicare hasn't covered. I'm taking 5mg of Prograf and 720 mg of Myfortic (Cellcept) per day. Has anyone else been in this situation and what happened when Medicare coverage stopped? Wanting to get some info before my meeting this month with the transplant doctor.

" I should be going onto Medicare in a couple of months as it will be two years since they determined me to be diabled and eligible for SS disability I'm somewhat nervous about it because i don't know what to expect. The good news switching my regular insurance to a supplemental will save me $300 a month. If drug coverage doesn't work out right I know the drug companies have banded together to help people. I've seen adds on TV with Montel Williams. I'd google it. Just pray and do the footwork and somehow I feel confident you will receive the help you need. I will be praying for you.. "

" I have excellent insurance so I have not experience your situation. But from what I've read you're on your own Medicare wise.
Have you looked into what Blue Shield pays for drugs? They should be able to tell you to the penny what it would cost based on your current consumption. "
