Advice for a friend of a Lung Transplant Patient

Hi All,
I am brand new to this site. My very dear friend had a lung transplant on 7/29. We are very close and normally I visit her in the hospital when she was in for related lung stuff. I know this time it is a whole new world. I am not sure when I can go visit her and not compromise her health, so question #1. When can non- family members go visit an organ transplant patient? #2. What should I bring her? I usually bring her food but because of rejection issues I heard this is not advisable, any suggestions of alternatives? Thank you all for taking the time to read this! I had my liver transplant on 7/21 in Houston. There, anyone could visit, friends or family, once I was out of ICU. I personally handled things better alone, so my family didn't visit very often. They called. But if your friend wants you to visit, I would think you probably can. You shouldn't take food, as you said. And of course, people with new transplants can't have flowers or plants, so that's out. If your friend can watch a video in the room, that's a suggestion, or take him or her a book or magazine. That's they only advice I can give, if it helps. I hope your friend does well and goes home soon.
