" I have Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. I am 23 years old. Your nephew is in an age where there's technology that can help him. Yes you do want to get some games that will help his development. MaxiAids is an Organization that sells textured toys that will help him feel shapes and different textures. You can go to www.maxiaids.com You can also try American Printing House for the Blind (www.aph.com). They have all kinds of toys and materials that a professional can use to test his vision. There should be a lighthouse of the Blind that will help you. If you need any help, just send me a message. "

" When I was young (4-5 years) I remember a lot of occasions when, say my parents would tell me to say, get my ninja turtles out of the living room. Well even to this day I can tear up my livingroom 3 times before I realize what I'm looking for is on my coffee table in "plain sight", so you can imagine being a child I could go over the same spot over & over bofore an object jumped out at me clearly, and I would get yelled at by my folks for not paying attention. Keep things like that in mind as your nephew grows up. Its not always as simple as not paying attention. Sometimes it takes things a little longer to come into focus, I guess. And with any kid regardless its always important to stimulate thought, problem solving skills. He is going to be at a slight disadvantage in some regards, if at possible give him a leg up in critical thinking. Never cease to challenge him as he grows--and that goes for any child! Hope that is at all helpful. "
