I have ocd and I cant ever raise the dose of Luvox any higher cuz I feel jittery. Any one have a method to use to stop ritualizing and gain control? I wiill get a worry or a guilt thought ,and then feel compelled to explain it out to relieve the guilt or worry. I gets repeated compulsively and out of control ;and I do use putting it in the later bin, but mostly give in instead -to releive the anxiety. I suffer from this all the time and it just makes the ocd worsen. I want to get control of this. thanks LPAIN

" Ipain,

Please re-read Katies reply. That is the only way to deal with what you have....CBT. A quailified OCD specialist (known as a behavior therapist) will be able to help you to some degree (a little, alot, who knows?). CBT helped me alot. Also, I had to go to 4 BTers and only two helped. You need to keep fighting for yourself. Keep seeking professional medical help.

Also, what other meds have you tried besides Luvox? I am sure you know that there are many anti-depressants to try (8-12 SSRIs and others I can think of) plus anti-anxiety meds.

Have you try reading any OCD shrinks books or articles about OCD? It will make you more informed and feel more empowered. It will also help you pick out a better therapist. And it will help you understand what BT/CBT does for different OCD symptoms.

Do you have any medical insurance? Financial resourses? Obviously without these things it will be tough to get help. Community mental health centersa do esits around the country and charge on a sliding scale.

Best wishes and there is help out there. Many OCDers with your exact symptom, (which is quite common) have been helped trememdously with CBT. "
