I've for a long time thought that I've been suffering from ADD/ ADHD, and right now the doctors are trying to figure if its becasue of my depression, or if its also ADD/ ADHD....
(side note: also suffer from depression and social anxiety) But lately my long-term girlfriend has brought up the notion of me possibly having OCD. So the question is, how do you tell the difference between... 1/ Racing, uncontrolable thoughts of ADD/ ADHD or, 2/ Intrussive and unwelcomed thoughts of OCD ???? How do you tell, or is it possible to have both? Does anyone else here have both? If so, how did you and your doctors figure it out? Thanks sooo much Posted on 10/19/09, 11:10 am |

My daughter has both. The ADD was diagnosed first while she was in school. It showed up because she wouldn't finish her schoolwork and turn it in. She was distracted easily, etc.
The OCD became prevalent later--she is germaphobic, has to have things in a certain order, etc. She is going to start therapy again and is on Lexapro. I would ask to be evaluated for OCD also. Are you seeing a psychiatrist rather than an MD? Best wishes.
