" Are you sure you have ED? It could be just your hunger hormones. I wrote this in a link below.

You have hunger and satiety hormones. Grehlin is a hormone that tells you it is time to eat. It came from your ancestors to insure survival. When you go without eating Grehlin increases. After you eat Grehlin decreases for awhile until it is time for your next meal. Ghrelin, seems to orchestrate not only pleasure-seeking and physiological hungers but “stress eating” as well. Leptin is your satiety hormone. It tells your brain that you are full after a meal in a normal weight person. All obese people have lost the ability to get the signal that they a full. This is called leptin resistance. It is simular to insulin resistance that many obese people have and often go together giving you a double wammy. It also has a lot of the same health risk. Your brain instead is saying to store fat. The fatter you get the more hormones you have. This makes us different than normal weight people. It is one reason it is so hard to lose weight. It is not that you lack will power. It's your hormones. Leptin resistance is linked to high fructose and a high fat diet from modern diets. Its not that you ate to much fruit. High fructose corn syrup, sugar (half fructose) combined with palmitic acid from butter, dairy, beef and cheese is what seems to me linked to Leptin resistance. Eating this combo can make animals over eat for up to three days. Have you ever been out of control for days? Healthy fats are not linked to over eating. In fact they might help reverse it. It seems normal people and obese people also respond to exercise different as far as reducing hunger does not happen if your leptin resistant. Sleep or lack of, is also part of your hunger hormones. Do you sleep good?

Leptin controls bone mass. It might be why I have bad bones and can't control my blood sugar. Osteocalcin is a hormone in your bones. Osteocalcin, a hormone that does seem to have a relationship with fat cells but also does much more in the way of regulating metabolism and insulin receptivity. Osteocalcin appears to control blood glucose and fat deposits, and increases not only insulin sensitivity but also seems to raise insulin production in the pancreas. No other substance in the body appears to accomplish both tasks. Exercise, especially working with weights, does build bone mass, which in turn increases the amount of osteocalcin that bones produce. The more osteocalcin, the better our insulin regulation and the better we can control our blood glucose levels.

I can give you more information on this if you want. Do you have any plans on what you are going to do next? "

" Hang in there Kathy I know how hard it is just try and focus on one thing at a time if you can. I know I sometimes grow very impatient with myself and that probably is the hardest thing to deal with. Even though right now everything might seem hopeless and the days don't look so bright for you just try and keep in mind that each day is a fresh start to make things better.

Don't worry about the failed attempts from the past just try if you can to focus on all those little steps you can make now. And be proud of every little accomplishment great or small as they all add up. Hang in there and stay strong you are not alone:) "

" Hi there, you are not alone. I am over 300 pounds myself. Of course I hate myself too. I am having difficulty walking. If you can exercise. Please go exercise. I use to do that until I got MS and my legs don't work like they use to. Exercise and eating right. If you need to talk to someone I am here. Believe me I know how you feel. "

" You're very welcome Kathy, and you said the perfect words I am tying that is all anyone of us can do is just keep trying. I know that we all have it in us to keep on trying and I guess to me just knowing that and knowing we are not alone in our struggles helps us to fight that big monster which I call that mean negative blob that invades our minds. Anyway I have faith in you so you hang in there and stay strong:) "

" Hi Kathy,

Cheer up! Everyone feels like this at some point. I have been feeling like this on and off all week. I am trying to lose weight. some days I feel strong and secure and other days I feel sad that I let myself get to this point. I think the most important thing is to not let yourself get sucked into the darkness. you are a worth while person and you(just like all of us) have the power to bring about the changes that you want to see. Please stay positive. = ) "

" Check out my goals and progress, if I can do it anyone can. Don't give up on the idea of loving yourself. It's the only permanent life healing solution I'm aware of to date. Remember that you are not alone.

" hey kathy. i am not overweight but i used to overeat like mad. i was lucky enough to not gain weight but i would eat a whole pizza and then an entire cake. it was ridiculous. i quit junk food cold turkey and now i actually get full. there is a theory that eating junk loaded with msg does not satisfy your appetite b/c your brain does not acknowledge it as food. your body wants you to keep eating more and more in hopes that you will give it some nutrients.

i think you should go for it. balls to the wall, wean yourself off all the junk. in the meantime consider taking sam-e. it is an herbal antidepressant with no side effects. incredible.

i read an interesting article in time magazine calle dthe myth of exercise. in short, exercising is not the way to lose weight. you do not need to exercise in order to lose weight. people get hungry when they exercise and eat more than they burned off. its quite simple. however, i think you should add a 30 min walk into your daily routine to combat depression. at the end of 3 months, exercise is equal to zoloft in fighting depression. at the end of 10 months, exercise is WAY more effective.

kathy, you are a worthwhile human being. you have a lot to live for. you are here for a reason. fight back and take control of your life. this life experience will make even happier, more appreciative and stronger in the future. take care and god bless. "
