Hi, I'm new to this group, you all seem really nice and I'm glad I found this place. I'm only 31 but I'm a very very big woman, homebound because of my extreme weight. I am starting to have a lot of health issues, and even though I try to eat better sometimes I always go back to my old ways. Now I am just trying not to gain anymore but its hard to stay motivated and I just keep gaining. Wondering if there is anyone else out there as hopelessly addicted as I am and what we can do about it.

Linda

" i try to have sixsmall meals a day. have breakfast then wait a few hours then a mid - morning snack then lunch then an afternoon snack then dinner and then a bed time snack. that what u are increasing ur metabolism. also drink 6 - 8 cup of water a day. i also walk 3 a week . try to move a little even if u just do chores around the house that is a work out. i saw a documentary of a guy from another country who was stuck in bed b/c of his weight. lost a good amount of it by exercising dancing around in the bed and eat a small portion of meat and a plate of fruits and vegetables. " Hi Linda, yes welcome to our group. There are a great bunch of people here, I haven't been here long either, but have found everyone soo supportive and non judgemental. I'm doing it the same way as pocahontas 05, small meals throughout the day, boosting the metabolism. it means you don't get hungry cause you're eating every couple of hours, it really does work, as long as you keep the meals healthy. Don't worry about how much you have to lose, we are all doing it the same way, one pound at a time, make yourself small goals and it won't seem such a task (take it from me). You can do this, it is so much easier when we're all doing it together. Something else that has really helped me. www.fitday.com This has been really great, have found it easier to keep on track, when i know i have to weigh in every morning, it also tells you what calories, carbs, proteins and fats you are eating etc, has pie charts, graphs etc to chart your loss as you go along also. Best wishes for every success.

" Welcome to the group. I think for someone in as deep as you are, you reall need the help of a doctor, nutritionist, physical therapist/personal trainer, or a combination of the above.

If you are homebound, who delivers your food? If you have someone do the buying and delivering for you, make a list of healthy foods. Plan your meals for a week and list the ingredients/products you will need.

You may also want to look into Meals on Wheels if you haven't already.

You may also want to consider a program like Medifast or Jenny Craig or some other food delivery program. "

" Hi Linda, let me add my welcome to the rest...there is a lot of support here. We are all fighting the battle against the addiction to overeating.

One thing I am learning is that I have overeaten for so long, that I have no idea what normal portions are. Writing a food journal is really helping with that.

I have always resisted the idea before, but it is helping me see what denial I've been in in the past!

The one concept helping me most right now is the idea of "One Day at a Time".

For those of us with a LOT of weight to lose, even thinking about it can be overwhelming and we might give up before we begin. Now I'm only looking at what I'm doing just for today.

I may not give up overeating forever, but just for today, I will eat healthy and do a little exercise, whatever that is to the extent of my ability.

As I string together more "one-day-at-a-times", I'm seeing some rewards in lbs and inches lost.

It is a work in progress....and some days I am better than others. That is OK, because every day is a new opportunity...a new "one day at a time".

Another person commenting mentioned a question as to how you are getting food, being housebound. Is it brought by friends/family or other method? If it is friends/family, perhaps you could meet with them and a nutritionist to make a plan as to what they should bring you.

If friends and family are bringing you large amounts of food, they are enabling this extreme threat to your health and happiness to continue!

If you are ordering in food, perhaps giving over control of finances to someone else for a time would decrease your access to "unlimited" food!

Sometimes tough problems require tough solutions! At times, a person needs some "extra" help to get the ball rolling on the road to recovery!

There are many ways to do things...many paths to the same destination. The question is...do we really want to go there? Do we want to be healthy? Do we want to release the heavy burdon of this excess weight?

For me, the answer is finally yes. I am ready to change, and it is OK if the change is gradual.

Wishing you courage, hope, and strength to get up and fight!

Hugs "

" Welcome. I'm using Z Health, R Phase http://www.dragondoor.com/wz02.html and RKC Kettlebell training. http://www.dynamicchiropractic.ca/... I got into these because I was tired of being in pain. I've been keeping a Food Log and writing Journal entries here. I email them to my personal trainer every few days. I'm also reading "Excuses Begone!" by Dr Wayne W Dyer. I really recommend his new program around releasing excuses for making major life changes. You can do it and we are here for you. "
