Southwest Airline Seats

I'm boarding a flight to Florida on May 10th, and don't know if I'm going to fit in Southwest Airline's airplane seat! I'm 5ft 4in tall and I currently weigh 310 lbs. I flew Delta last year weighing 295 lbs. I had to ask for an extender belt (for the first time in my life), but I fit in the seat. I was in the aisle seat with a friend on the other side of me, so it didn't matter that we were shoulder to shoulder and butt to butt. My husband says Southwest is pickier about their over-sized rules, but if you can lower the arms on your seat, you are considered to "fit in one seat".

I don't want to be embarassed, and I don't want to have to pay for an extra seat at the last minute. Has anyone had experience flying Southwest, and if so, can you tell me your height and weight at the time you flew? Thanks.

" I haven't flown Southwest, but did fly American and United in October. I was 5'4" and 375lb. I did not have any problem. They flight attendants were very nice in getting me an extender. My suggestion is to call Southwest and speak to a representative. They may be able to help. Also, Southwest has come under fire for their practices in this area, so they may not be as stringent as they are publicized to be. Good luck! "

" I agree w/ Alicia79 that you should call. Also - not that I advocate stealing, BUT - you may want to just hold onto the next seatbelt extender you have to ask for. Rather than facing the potential embarrassment and the possibility of interacting with a less-than-tactful flight attendant, I just keep one in my purse and pull it out if needed. "
