I havn't been on here in a while because I am a flesh and blood person and wanted more human interaction for support.
I thought i'd give this another try. I just turned 30 a few months ago and feel like i missed out on most of my 20's. I feel like I have a lot to make up for. Long story short, i lost my twin brother a few years ago and things havn't been the same to say the least. I am looking for support and, not really motivation so much as just people who can relate or have inspiring words. My goal is to lose about 100lbs. I've always been a bigger guy but i'm not a slob and I am mobile and can drive, things like that, not a shut in. I've had insomnia and sleep apnea for years and that is one of the main things that prevents me from working out more often, being tired all the damn time. So i'm just looking for people who enjoy helping others, not bringing each other down. I've had some set backs so i can't really go out and meet people like i used to, so i thought i'd try this to see what comes of it. Posted on 02/29/12, 01:43 pm |

Hello! Welcome aboard! Have you set any mini-goals that you would like to accomplish? I too wanted to lose around 100 pounds, and when you look at the number like that, it is a daunting task. I have been going by 10 pound increments. What activities do you enjoy, and are you planning on counting calories?

Hi you, I wondered where you were...since we last interacted, messaged I have made progress in my grief, while having concurring loses I was lost...See, how far I have made progress. Was wailing sad, horrible girl to an okay girl. A work in progress...on a move. Have you shelved your grief or still working through it?
I have a new pup, Jack in the Box....a whole lot of love. He has brought me joy during my sad times. You can see his snap on my photo section.. To some degree I think we all having issues with eating and weight..whether small or large. Some people carry their weight in their minds while others on their frame. It is about issues that we have to work through, to find them be aware of them and make the changes..one at a time. Some things like changing our thoughts help with the changes we want to make in our lives, the physical and mental. I am not a large person, as you have seen my snap..but I know what changes are, mine being forced changes because my husband was killed, and I lost my dog and cat the same year. Everything in my life changed, so I am a work in progress. I know about being forced to change in an instant or wanting to change starts with small tweaks.....that helps to learn to accept the lifestyle changes and it can become apart of the lifestyle we want. I used to eat only whole fresh foods, most of my life..now I am eating terrible because of the change of losing my husband. I didn't care anymore..but I am working on me, my health inside and out...mental and physical. I didn't gain weight, I just feel my health deteriorating. Foods that cause inflammation in the body, causes alot of physical side effects, symptoms and disease. I feel sluggish, fatigue, exhausted....depressed...in a mental fog, then toss in the loss of someone dear to us...wow, it increases by ten-fold., so I understand. So changes in weight, changes in our sadness I think it comes from approaching it with one step at a time..accepting it, being aware of it. Changing our reception, to be open to the change and perception of it..how our outlook view of it is. One day we will wake up the birds with our singing and no fatigue instead of the birds waking us up and we mumble.. cripes it is daylight already..?? First thing..put your name at the top of YOUR list! Second think, if you have 100 negative things you say about yourself...write 101 positive things about you. There are more, but we will start with just 101 for now... Seems small, seems silly..but just saying thank you for this day when we feel down and out, does help. Thank you to whomever. Me, I say thank to my husband and God.. All will be well...Tight hugs. Now go take on the day. I will be too...

I need to lose 100 too but I can't think about the hundred. I bought myself a dress that is a size 14 (I'm a 22) and that's my daily visual que to stay on point. I also put a picture of the dress as well as the things I really want out of life (to play tennis again, kayaking, mountain biking) on my fridge to remind me of why I'm doing what I'm doing. it really helps to see the visual reminders. It keeps me focused and redirects me when temptation hits.
I also started doing yoga at a friend's studio. She's my cheerleader. We all need one so I totally get why you feel you need more human interaction. I say find a sport or activity that makes you move and you enjoy and start doing it. For me, its yoga. For you it could be a dance class or tennis or basket ball or even bowling. Whatever gets you moving and gets you socializing. Best of luck. You can do it!

I can understand some of your pain, even though it was not my sibling, I lost a twin son, 12 yrs ago! I think I was literally in shock for like a yr. or so! I know that sounds crazy, but, it is true! I only did what I had to do to get by,which was mostly, take care of my remaining son, & work! I dont remember much from those yrs! I cried soo much! And I was downright ANGRY! What did I do to deserve this? I felt like I was being PUNISHED BY GOD! How could he BLESS me with TWIN sons, then TAKE BACK one? I had to finally just realize for whatever reason, GOD had a reason, that I just didnt understand, and I had to turn my sorrow to GOD, also the thought that I had to BELIEVE in GOD because one day when I die, I dont want to think of it as the END, I wanted to think that one day I would see my son AGAIN! I'm sorry to lay this all out here, but, I hoped by doing so, u would know my thoughts, & the similarities! Sometimes loss is loss! As far as weight loss, I too ,need to lose around 100 lbs, so start easy, helps me to PLAN what I am going to eat, keep a food diary, so I am accountable to myself, & started walking daily! Well, WISH U THE BEST on your journey! WELCOME back!

Over the last year and a half, iv'e gone from 475 to weighing in this morning at 355. Iv'e been a dedicated gym rat for over 15 years and have seen people come and go in the gym. I first tell them not to be intimidated. You simply need to ask yourself, seriously, whether you want to live or die ? I also have sleep apnea, due to both my size as well as having PTSD and finally had a sleep study done and now use a CPAP machine when i sleep and i i can honestly say that it saved my life.
I simply just got sick and tired of being fat. I'm also a facebook junkie and i have MANY fitness minded friends on there as well as the more than several people whom i see every day at the gym and we motivate each other and feed off of each others' positive energy. You just simply have got to want to do it for YOURSELF and keep only positive and supportive people around you.

When I started Weight Watchers in early November I weighed 214 pounds! I am only 5'1'' so this looked really bad on me! Also, I need a hip replacement & am disability, so I was in a lot of pain! Mostly my hip, knee & low back. As I have lost weight the pain is a lot better & I have been swimming 3 times a week. I've lost 30 pounds so far! Good luck to you!

I too am overweight its always been a problem for me. I am trying to lose 100 pounds I want to be healthy for myself and family. I know it will take along time because I did not gain the weight overnight. I know what its like to lose someone. I have lost a son, husband and my mom died last year. there is nothing anyone can say to ease the pain. I have found that overtime my pain has lessened and life gets better. It always helps me to be around positive people and situations and realize that its important to limit or ignore the negative. you are not alone we are all here
