Advice:
Help I can't stop eating

It is now 1am and I can't stop eating. I've eaten 20 perogies, 12 fish sticks and 6 freezies within the past 1/2 hour and I still feel hungry. I feel like I haven't eaten for a whole week. I just don't know what to do anymore. I tried thinking whether anything is bothering me but I can't think of anything. I go to the doctors on Wednesday but what do I do til then? I'm frustrated with the way I'm feeling (like I'm always hungry). Can anyone suggest anything? I can't stop thinking about food even if I try to fight the temptation to make something. All of this just started happening recently when I started eating more nutritiously. Before this, I was barely eating and when I did I was eating only junk but now I'm eating a lot of fruit and meat (good for you foods).

" You definately need to consult with the doc when you go on wednesday to see if there is a medical reason this is happening. Heresa couple of things I do when I'm tempted to binge. Sometimes they work and sometimes not, but its worth a shot. I like to make deals with myself. If I still feel hungry after I've eaten, I will say something like ok, I want some fish sticks. If I work out for 30 minutes (you can subsitute clean house, do the laundry, work on a report, etc) then I can have 5 fish sticks. If you do the required item and you still want the fish sticks cook only the amount you previously. Try to slow your eating down so it takes longer. If you still want to eat after that you say, ok if I read(fill in your own activity) for 30 mins then i can have (set the portion size) of what ever you're craving. The trick is if you can get your mind and hands occupied in another task you will sometimes forget you were hungry. Also, dragging out the time, gives your brain time to tell your body it's full, and it limits the amount you can eat. Instead of eating all you can eat in one hour, you've limited yourself to 2 items in pre determined amounts. if you want to eat more you can, but you have to drag it out another half hour by doing some other activity. Hope this helps. The key is once you make that deal with yourself, you have to keep it. It works most of the time if I choose to engage it. Good luck, hope this helps "

" Christine --

Get shelled almonds in a bag and put that beside your bed. Eat almonds at night. "

" Hi ltlady, thank you for suggesting the almonds. I do eat them right before a meal as my dietician suggested eating protein 15 minutes before a meal so that my body will realize it's getting food but I never thought of eating them at night. Maybe then I'll feel full with it being protein. It's worth giving it a shot. Thanks. "
