" Normally belly fat is caused by insulin resistance. Most any diet that is low in saturated fats and processed carbs will work to reverse insulin resistance. Any type of exercise will help make you more insulin sensitive again. Meditation or anything that reduces stress helps if the insulin resistance is caused by high cortisol. Getting a good 8 hours sleep helps build back the hormones that are broken down during the day. Sleep helps weight loss. There is this new belly fat diet that is out. Part of it is healthy and part is gimmicky like a fad diet. Anything to sell books. "

" Please read my post titled "The Obesity Myth." And try doing any type of cardio activity you can. Walking is great. If you can build up to briskly walking for 30 minutes 5 times per day, that will help a lot and help you get fit. If walking doesn't work for you try something else that makes you sweat. Maybe dancing to the radio (I'm thinking of $$-free ways to get cardio activity in).

I agree with the poster regarding carbs. Refined carbs wreak havoc on my emotions (baked goods made with white flour, white rice, chips). Popcorn is okay because it's a whole grain. Just lay off extra butter and salt. Try butter spray instead. Stack up on fresh sweet fruits to ward of sugar cravings. By keeping junk food out of your home, it makes it a lot harder to eat them. You'll feel better and your tummy will shrink--even if not totally. "
