" start with small goals....the big ones can be too overwhelming. And ease into it - start an excercise program and start moving, then change your eating habits so that its not a huge shock all at once.......

You'll get there..... "

" I think Millstarr is right start with small goals. I started with cutting calories each week. So if you each say, 3,000 calories a day, then in week one shoot for 2700 calories. do this each week until you hit your desired calorie goal. Then add exercise, say one day a week for a week. Maybe walk one block or a half of block. Then each week increase the number of days you walk, and soon when that one block is no longer a chore then add more blocks. The smaller the gaols the easier it is to see results. And above all tell yourself, I choose to do this. I want to do this, that way it is not a chore that you dread it is a choice and one you want to make. Keep up your spirits, the weight will come off, you didn't gain it over night and you won't lose it that way either. "

" Hey! Getting started is the hardest part!!! I certainly agree that getting yourself moving is a great start. You'll find that you'll drop a lot of pounds by just adding exercize to your daily routine. Start with walking around the block twice every morning before work, or every night after dinner. Once you're body gets used to moving, make it 3 times and so on!

When it comes to dieting, replace all of the chips and cookies in your cubbords with celery, carrots, raw brocolli, yogurt, fruit, sugar free pudding, etc. That way, when you're craving the crunch or the sweet, you have options that don't involve a lot of empty calories. Those 100 Calorie Packs are AWESOME for snacks...but remember, only one!

Good luck, and keep us updated on your progress. I'm really happy that you're getting motivated!!! "

" Start with a short walk. Just to the mailbox. in a couple days maybe walk to the neibors. Little by little. Change one thing in your diet at a time so you not overwhelmed. I think the best way to see change is start drinking water. But you could just switch to diet soda or somethig like that. Then each week do a little more. We have to change our lifestyle. Remember you are important enough to take time for a walk and to fix a healthy meal. I think thats where I get off track. "

" You just took the first step by announcing that you want to lose weight and even set a desired goal weight:) I agree with all the other posts, start out small, drink plenty of water, start keeping track of what you are eating and how much. Every little step you take means a much larger step you will be able to take later on. If you look back on some of the past posts you will find some excellent ideas on meals and exercise as well as dealing with some of the highs and lows of emotions. I wish you loads of success:) "

" It can be so overwelming when you have alot of weight to lose to get to your healthy weight.(what ever that might be) The most important thing I have done is to stop eating when the food no longer tastes good. Some days are easyier than others. Also iVillage.com is a good site to try for weight management, stress management & exersise tailored to the individual (and it's free). Only you can do it, stop waiting...be happy with the small life changes, they last longer. "

" Something I think helps is to eat evenly at all meals so your body gets about the same amount of calories/energy spaced thru out the day. Then you only have to think about it when you fix your meal... so saving calories up to eat more at the next, etc. (That is my "no dieting" plan for this year... no dieting as it's become a no brainer, once you fixed the same meal twice you already know it's okay, don't have to think about it so it is easy to stick with.)

You will find what works best for you, everyone is a little different... best of luck! "
