The Dr. Oz Show Has Another Question For You!

View More Posts Ignore
Hello All,

Over the next few weeks, I'll be posting questions from the new Dr. Oz Show across DailyStrength.

These questions were originally submitted to Dr. Oz and he has invited members from DailyStrength to share their answers.

If your answer is selected, it will appear on the Dr. Oz website and possibly be used on his show.

Here's your question:

"I just found out that I need to lower my cholesterol, how do I read food labels to find out what foods I can eat?"

If you have an answer to this question based on your personal or professional experience, post your response below.

A few tips to help make your answers better:

-Use the same familiar tone you would when writing to a friend here on DailyStrength. It's important that your answer appeal to a wide audience.
-Keep your answers between 150–250 words.
-Remember that the question and the answer need to be two parts of the same thought. Keep your answer short and to the point.

The Dr. Oz Show (http://www.doctoroz.com/) will premiere on September 14, 2009. Check local listings for show times and be watching to see if your answer was selected!

" Instead of trying to read all those food labels, maybe you should try to eat fresh. Think salads, fresh vegetables, steamed( broccoli, carrots ETC) there are many herbs to season them. Keep your meat to a minimum. I found that cutting it up and adding it brown rice or noodles makes you feel as if you ate more than you actually did. Add lots of fruit, go for a nice little walk after your meal. I heard on a show that if you shop on the perimiter of the grocery store and stay out of the aisles, you will get all the healthy stuff. It'd true, I found that grocery stores all have fresh/ frozen vegetables, fruits, dairy, fish ETC in this area. Farmers markets are also GREAT. Their vegetables taste so much better, you may never want to go anywhere else! Chocolate, sweets, deserts BAD! Godd luck "
