Mother just diagnosed

Hi,

My mother, 77, was just diagnosed with NHL stage 4. We see the onco on Thursday for the consult. I have had breast cancer (2x) but this seems to be staged differently. I am concerned about the treatment and if she will be able to survive the chemo they prescribe.

I have been reading, which I know is not always good, but I find it hard to stay away.

Is there anyone out there with experience with this at the age of my mother and how they handled it? Any idea of what the survival rate?

Any questions for the dr. is good and if you have good stories about survival, I would love to hear.
Thanks,
Yaka

" Hi Yaka, if you have to have cancer this is one of the best to have. It's treated more like a cronic condition. I've gone thru chemo twice. A great web site is the Lymphomation.org site. You will learn so much good information there. I know this is hard for you, but there is so many new drugs out there. Steph "

" I agree with Steph55, this is the cancer you can beat. Be aggressive in treatment and keep her hopes up. Listen to the doc and follow your heart in helping her. My prayers are with both of you.

George "

" Hi,

Last week went to the onco. They have prescribed the chemo treatment of RFC. They are going to put a portocath in right before the chemo.

Will my mom lose her hair? How sick does the regimen make you. She is already neauseated by the mass that is near her esphosgeuous. I am anxious for the chemo to start, never thought I would say that, as she is always tired.

So again, if anyone knows about RFC, please send some info.
Thanks,
Yaka "
