Hi all,
I was diagnosed with Non-hodgkins lymphoma in January. I started my first treatment the end of February. My menstrual cycle last came right before I started my first treatment. I just finished my second treatment last week and am awaiting my menstrual cycle to start for the first time since I have been doing treatment. I can not find anything online to tell me if this is normal. Any ladies experienced this same issue? Posted on 03/31/09, 08:03 am |

It sounds as though your oncologist has not counseled you about reproductive health issues during and after chemotherapy. I would strongly suggest that you request a consultation with a reproductive health specialist (gynecologist).
During my first month after chemotherapy (Dec '08), menstruation ceased and menopause was confirmed by a blood test measure my FHS and LH levels. I started LoOvral contraceptive pills to control the hot flashes. The clinicians have told me that they are uncertain as to whether my menstrual cycle will return or if menopause is permanent. Depending on your age, you want to consider also asking about Lupron/Zoladex shots to minimize ovarian suppression. I'm sorry to hear that you're left to figure this out on your own. I'm happy to answer more questions and suggest resources.
