New to NHL diagnosis

Hello All. I was diagnosed with NHL B cell follicular center in December after removal of enlarged lymph nodes in my lower abdoman that would not decrease in size over time. I also have fibromyalgia and was diagnosed with lupus 24 years ago. More recently my biggest problem is repeated outbreaks of shingles and the pain and fatigue and just overall grossness of it. I know my immune system has never been real healthy. I am very upset over the NHL diagnosis. My oncologist is doing what is known as "watchful waiting" since the NHL is at grade 1. Has anyone else been thru this "watchful waiting"? I feel like I just want rid of this disease, I am so tired, and so tired of being tired. I want my life back.

I do want to mention that while I am ill, I am blessed with the world's greatest husband. He is alone a lot more now because I am in bed usually asleep or on some painkiller that keeps me from being a normal wife. The phrase in our marrage vows of "for better or worse" and "in sickness and in health" are truly being tried. He goes to work and I am in bed and he comes home and I am in bed usually of course after a few hours of being up and doing whatever cleaning my physical self is able to muster up. It feels good to be loved.

" I would hate that watch and wait... it would drive me crazy... I just do not have that kind of patience. I was diagnosed with fibro 2 years ago and NHL large C follicular lymphoma last November. I just did my last chemo and will start radiation Thursday for 17 days. The treatment really sucked BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel.. If you do not want to do the watch and wait, see another doctor.
I got all my treatments at M.D. Anderson in Houston which is the leader in lymphoma. They treat people from all over the world & will fly you in for treatment with you having a local oncologist... message me if you want. "

" Watchful waiting was offered to me and I was in Stage 4...........No way I wanted rid of the crap taking over my body. I felt I had more control if I was fighting the cancer. Second
opinions never hurt and it's your right.
I took the chemo and after the 3rd treatment I was in remission, even though I had to finish the regimen. I've been in remission
for 5 months. "

" watchful waiting in stage 4 !!!! OMG, yes, glad you got another opinion. I was diagnosed in stage 3 and offered that option... no way jose!
They detected no active cells after only two treatments BUT I also had to complete the regimen. I have about ten days of radiation left & then all the re-testing... but I am already wearing my survivor shirt.
Orsassy, how often are you retested (if you don't mind me asking) They want to re-test me every three months and I think that seems like a lot? "

" I am also in a watch and wait period. I am in a stage II I believe and the major symptom is abdominal pain. My lymphoma is mainly in the mesentary. I am ok with the watchful waiting because from eveything I read, there is no cure or agreed upon stage one treatment for it. My oncologist would begin R-CHOP but feels that since my symptom is only the pain and not fever or night sweats it may be best to wait.
For those getting radiation, is that because you only have one or two nodes affected? "

" I just want to say I pray for you! If you're not into prayers, well then I am thinking in good energy for you to put it another way. I definitely agree with looking for another opinion. It always is a good idea to get more than one perspective.
Kind Regards!
