I am new to this group & new to lymphoma. I was wondering if anyone else was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia before the diagnoses of Lymphoma? My oncologist told me I was probably misdiagnosed and I was wondering if this is common...

i did not have that as a diagnosis but I did have a lymphnode removed about 6 yrs before my NHL diagnosis that I was told was a normal, reactive lymphnode... but it was not. when i was diagnosed with NHL, 2 diff specialists retested that lymphnode and both said it was also NHL. so I was diagnosed 4 yrs ago but we know i have had it closer to 10 years (or more)

Recently diagnosed with fibro but realise I've had it since childhood.
NHL treated 18 years ago with radiotherapy, no re-occurrence. Fibro now really bad and have frozen shoulder (other shoulder froze/unfroze over the last three years). I have often wondered whether there is a connection. I also had a hydatidiform mole pregnancy at same time as the NHL, but was told there was no connection at the time. Makes you wonder though, doesn't it?

I do not seem to have any signs of the fybro lately? Maybe the NHL is just kicken my butt to much to notice? I just finished my last round of chemo last night and start radiation Friday... who the heck knows anymore.... maybe when this is over, the fybro will flare back up...LOL

Hi TerriDasilva,
This is the first time I have heard other NHL survivors talk about their connection with the fibrobeast. I was diagnosed with NHL in 2002, and officially diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2008. I was healthy prior to my cancer diagnosis; however, since then my health has dramatically deteriorated. I now have FM, DDD, diabetes, severe arthritis and a spinal pinched nerve at three vertebrae. I have gotten bels palsy, a wicked UTI that sent me to the ER, and been hospitalized with kidney failure. I honestly believe that the intense treatment that saved my life is also responsible for some if not all of the ailments that have followed. By now, I assume that your treatments are complete, and I hope that you are cancer-free. Thanks for bringing this question to light. Ciao & Shalom, hurtin'

I am now cancer free! I will be tested every three months for a while, but as of the end of May I am CANCER FREE. My fibro kinda dissapeared during all my treatments and is now back kickin butt. It is so bizarre how the treatment that can save your life can be so hard on the body. Most days it hurts to use my arms and by mid day my hip hurts so much I feel like a 100 year old woman...LOL I guess time will only tell whats next.

Terri,
You are cancer-free! Congratulations! I received a lot of steroids via my port and orally during my treatments which caused immense pain especially in the groin and hip areas. Did you get steroids? I just can't imagine having the fibrobeast at the same time as just having gone through treatment for NHL. God bless you for hanging in there. My fingers are crossed for your continued remission. Gentle Hugs..... Ciao & Shalom, hurtin'
