i am going in for my first round of chemo and i dont have any idea what to expect. i was diagnosed about a year ago and the reason i did not start treatment sooner is because i became pregnant soon after all my testing, i just had my baby and now my oncologist wants to start treatment in a week. i am scared because i dont know what to expect. i know i will get sick and tired. my father passed away 4 years ago due to testicular cancer and i know what he went threw during and after his treatments. so any ones support and advise would be helpful...

Hi Chelsea,
I had Burkitts Lymphoma some 4 years ago, which started with a lump in my neck. I have to admit that despite being in hospital for 4 months, when I look back now my treatment was not so bad. The first phase is the easy part as it is all new and you don't know what to expect. The time will go much quicker at the start. How long do you expect to be in ? Honestly the treatment and support you get will be great, I thought it would be much worse than it was. If you have any specific concerns that I can help you with then please let me know, happy to share my experiences. Take care and keep me posted on your progress. My blog www.alex-beatingcancer.blogspot.com shares my story. Alex

Congratulations on your new baby. I have just finished all my treatments for NHL. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. I was able to get up with my husband every morning at 4:30am, still able to make dinner, clean my house, do laundry..... all that crap. I was tired, but not very sick. Don't be afraid to ask for help from family and friends when you need to. I found that it actually helped them deal with what I was going through easier when they were able to help me in some way.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 NHL & did 4 rounds of chemo and 17 radiation treatments. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Hi Chelsea:
You're going to be fine. i recieved 6 cycles of r-chop and can only remember getting really tired after cycle four. I did not vomit, feel too fatigue or anything like that. The steriods are awful and you might loose you sense of taste for a awhile. it'll go by fast though. I have a one year old daughter and was concerned how I would be able to take care of her but remember GOD is always good! You'll be fine trust me.
