Ritalin

I was prescribed Methylin ER with my diagnosis last week. Granted, I'm only on day three or four...but I'm wondering about other people's experiences with this medication? I feel really...strung out... like it's trying to work, but it's quite there...but I don't want a nap. When I first took it, the world moved a lot faster than I did. I talked really fast, and I guess acted really hyper...kinda felt uninhibited (never been drunk, but I think that's what it would be like).

How have other people felt taking this? I move up to from 10mg to 20mg in three days.

" I didn't like the Ritalin. It brought me up quick, but dropped me even quicker when it wore off. I lost a bunch of weight, but always felt as though I was living in the Matrix, moving at a different pace all together. My friends didn't much care for how I was while I was on it either, they said I was too everything! I take combination therapy, Provigil which is long term, and Adderal twice a day (short term med). " I am on the same med. I take 80mg a day and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I feel like I'm in a fog most of the time. you might have to try a new med. the most important thing to remember is tell your doctor every thing that you feel and do on it. Keep a notebook and write all systoms in it so you remember what you need to tell your doctor. "

" I was dependent on Ritalin and Adderall to get me through 4 years of college and the last year of high school.

Now, I have such a horrible tolerance, these drugs are like sugar pills. An hour later, I can't even remember if I took them or not -- which is the complete opposite of when I first started taking them.

Ask your doctor about drug holidays. To avoid getting a tolerance like I have, you have to take holidays (more like long vacations) with no stimulants such as these. "

" I take the Ritalin 4 times daily & I have no problems with it at all. Not even from when I first started taking it. I don't feel hyper or anything like others state. I take 2 pills at a time, or I will be in a coma for most of the day! I also take Muscle relaxers & pain medication on a daily basis due to my Lyme disease & other issues. Originally I was told I had chronic fatigue (which I do) but it became so much worse then that & I started sleeping for about 17 hours per day & nodding off every time I drove. I was finally diagnosed with narcolepsy about 2-2-1/2 years ago now. I would speak to your doctor & tell him/her that you are experiancing affects from the meds. They can try other things with you to see if it gets better. "

" i am taking equasym ( ritalin)... it works well for me, much better than the provigil. it doesnt make me really fast.. although it hink it did in the early days, but now it works really well for me, the best so far, until i get xyrem approved this is the best i have tried. i also take other meds for the cataplexy, so maybe that is why i dont 'speed'?!
