" I have been drinking 5 hr energy shots everyday. I do the original in the berry flavor. I drink 1\2 in the morning and 1\2 after lunch. It is mostly vitamins with caffeine but you can go to their web site and get the whole list of what is in it. "

" My doctor suggested I try Ginkgo Biloba, as she has other N patients using it who were unable to tolerate other stimulants. I just went and bought some the other day - will let you know if it works! "

" Like Cheri, I use the 5 hour energy shots. They seem to do the trick for me most days, I use it in the morning time when I get into work. That is the only thing I have tried so far that is not a prescribed stimulant...other than using little tricks to keep myself awake. I do things I used to do before my diagnosis though, that somewhat worked then and still do now like walking around, spashing water on my face, sneaking off for a quick 5 minute nap, using my lunch to rest, eating small things....whatever worked to get over smaller bouts of EDS.

danagirl- I also wondered about the ginko, please let us know if it helps you at all, I am curious on that too! "

" I tried cayenne tablets. It did act as a stimulant. Now I just put it on my food. "

" Thanks everyone. I would also like to try some natural stimulants to supplement my not-so-natural ones.

danagirl: how much ginkgo do you take?

xyrem: I am definately going to try eating more cayenne. Does it give you troubles sleeping at night (upset stomach, heartburn etc.)?

Thanks again!

" I do a five-hour every morning and also find that green tea gives me sustained energy (keep in mind "energy" is relevant) I have heard that peppermint is supposed to give you a lift...and as I mentioned in another post...warm beverages increase your core temperature which increase virulence-(i think I have the right word- awakeness, responsiveness).
