I need any advice

I was just wondering what is that people do to get through their days and nights.

I have Excessive Daytime Sleepiness, Cataplexy, and I endure Sleep Paralysis at night (with Hallucinations, of course). I'm taking Provigil for the days but have lost my health insurance so I am dropping $395.00 to attempt to keep awake (I still nap but A LOT less then before). Does anything else work (that would be less of an impact on my pockets)?

I'm in school now full-time and am reluctant to return to my former self but I just can't afford this every month.

Does anyone else have Sleep Paralysis? Any advice on what to do to prevent it? Any advice would help on that subject. It's been 13 years of torment and I am running out of ideas (and still afraid to sleep).

Thanks for any advice you may have. I just feel like I'm drowning within myself sometimes and it's just so frustrating.

" Does your school offer student insurance? Some plans might help cover prescriptions and that could help ease the cost. Perhaps your financial aid could help pay for a plan? "

" Provigil offer a 'free meds' program for people who can't get insurance and struggle to pay. it's a US program and i'm in UK so i don't know too much about it but we have discussed it on here before. Try googling 'free provigil' and see what it comes up with, or search it on this site and you might find our previous discussions about it "

" Hey,
Thanks so much for responding!

My school offers a pretty useless insurance. I go to the doctor, pay with my money, and then go argue it out with my supposed insurance company - and it doesn't come at a cheap price.

I am going to try that free meds site though. And I never heard of the rare disease site so I'm going to check out both of them.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.

" Dear Jaded,
Good news-- Provigil is coming up with a new drug called nuvigil http://www.nuvigil.com/ I was talking with a drug rep just yesterday. It's supposed to have less side effects, more dosage options and be much less expensive. It seems to have good promise and less financial impact. I'd ask your MD about it. Good luck! "

" I have tried the Nuvigil, It is so much better for me than the Provigil. But I'm having a hard time with the insurance company. But there is also help for the Nuvigil too. Good luck. "
