Has anyone seen a rheumatologist for their chronic pain and exhaustion? If so did they help?

" Yes. My rheumy diagnosed a severe vit D deficiency. That was very helpful. I still have pain, however, but not as much. "

" I had the same thing. Took a month of hi dose Vit D and a daily walk at lunch with no sunscreen and pain has lessened. "

" What other test did they do? Where they open to food intolerance testing? ...obviously I'm desperate to find something that helps. "

" I use to see a rheumatologist who would give me shots in my shoulder. At the time, I had been diagnosed with Fibro but she said I didn't have that. She said it was just the way I carried stress. The shots helped but after a while even that did help so she sent me to PT. PT helped eventually but as they added more and more repetitions the PT realized that only made me worse so she released me. This is the only experience I have had with a rheumatologist. I'm only seeing my regular doctor and am in need of one that knows CMP and how to treat it. "

" Hi, again, I'm the newbie here...:) Posting a few replies...I've been suffering from CMP for five years, finally been trying some new things since i'm still suffering. I went to see a rheumatologist to rule some things out, and that's what he did, he ruled things out like lupus, arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, that kind of thing.
I do have a Vitamin D deficiency, I found, and I have started taking supplements. Too soon to tell if it's working, though. I was also low in B. I'm still waiting for my blood tests to be mailed to me so I can see what was specifically tested for and why. "

" What where your levels? Mine was 31. According to the lab that did my test that is normal. Several websites list that as sub optimal. Not really sure what is correct? "

" My level was 20. According to my blood tests normal is 30 and above, though obviously 31 would be still very close to the bottom. So I was told to start taking 1000 IU of D every day. We'll see how that works! I had no idea I could be deficient in D but I guess I'm not in the sun as much as I thought and I don't drink much milk (though I do eat dairy!) "
