Has anyone heard of a special diet that can help with the symptoms or even as a treatment for MG... just wondering if there is a special diet that I can give Sofia that will at least help her symptoms.

If you would have asked this question in the Lupus group, I would tell you to check out the anti inflammatory diet. I know this diet helps a lot of my systems, but with so many overlap, I sometimes have a hard time know which shoe fits which disease. I have not read much about diet and MG, but I thought lupus was my main problem. Turns out I was WAY wrong. What I would recommend to you is to stay as close to the source as possible. Whole food. Organics. Least amount of preservatives/chemicals as possible. If you don't have a steamer, I would get one. A good one. I can get any kid to eat my steamed broccoli, no lie. A juicer is also a wonderful idea. My son now loves carrots (he's 5) and I couldn't even get him to try them before. Something about turning it to juice, he just loves the process. We have to add one tomato to his carrot juice, but he drinks it right up and now will eat raw carrots in his school lunch. There are many good juice recipes and you can use the pulp for cooking or for rich compost. Try cutting down on wheat, sugar and dairy for awhile. I would keep dairy but use the goat form. It is much kinder on our stomach/ digestive system. Sorry, I could go on and on and on. When I got so sick and the doc's couldn't/wouldn't help, I spent years learning about natural healing and the foods we eat. If you would like any more information feel free to email me at any time. Good luck to you mom. I look at my son and think, "Thank goodness it is me who is sick and not him." Much positive energy your way, Kim

My daughter eats so little but I try to follow the advice someone gave me once- whatever she eats, try to make it the best it can be. That is, if she eats bread, make sure it's whole grain. If it's fruit, dairy etc. make it organic. If it's eggs, make sure it's free range with omega three. I don't really believe in hiding the pureed vegetables in things but it might be a good idea for your daughter to maximize her nutrition without a battle. I think reddutchgirl advice is great! Good luck. Sarah

thanks for the advice! I am going to look into the organic products. She does like to eat raw veggies like carrots, red peppers, celery....I just never thought of buying them organic. Lately her appetite has increased. I think it's the prednisone but whatever it is I'm happy she is eating more

Hi
I'm no expert here but i havent heard of any doc advertising special diet for MG. I really dont think that has any effect on the MG symptoms. Of course, it is better to stay with healthy/organic foods!
