Is there anyone in this group that has both of these disease "ASTHMA AND MYASTHENIA GRAVIS" I do.. I wanted to know does anyone see a connection to their asthma and myasthenia gravis. I noticed that my asthma can sometimes act up out the blue for no apparent reason at all. I could be sitting at home and all of sudden Im short of breath I dont use perfumes or any kind of scented soaps at least not on a daily basis for iI know what they will and can do to me. Im just curious to know if anyone else has asthma and mg and what things have you noticed about these two diseases...

Hi Tysie32 - I am a member here because my husband has MG. A friend we met in our town who also has MG has Asthma as well. I will try to contact her and ask her to consider joining this group and get in touch with you. I know it would do her good to be able to chat with another person with the same diagnosis. Take Care!

They suspect that I have asthma also and I will find out in the next month. Next week the pulmonary testing, then two weeks later I get to see the pulmonologist and the results. I have already met him once and he highly suspects asthma. I didn't have too many problems until a cat of ours had kittens and I had to keep them in the house because we have a family of redtailed hawks living in the woods across the road. Changing that litter 4 times a day liked to kill me. I started really coughing up the black stuff and would have attacks that I swore I would not get another breath. I think that darn dust is still settled in the bottom of my lungs, but no kitties got eaten. lol I now do not have any animals in the house and it will stay that way.

Hi, yes the 2 seem related. I have both as well and have for over 20 years. When MG gets worse, so does asthma. When asthma triggers, MG gets worse. Both docs (Pulmonary and Neurologist) point the finger at each other so they don;t have to address the problem. It's unethical to abandon a patient when you blame the other doctor (or patient) and do nothing to help.

Me too, I'm afraid. I didn't start having asthmatic problems, however, until my MG symptoms started. I can't find anything in the literature about a connection, but autoimmune diseases do seem to "run in packs"
