Hi
Has anyone here tried acupressure/acupuncture as an alternative treatment for MG? If so, what were the results? I am guessing that it may help short-term with some of the symptoms but not with MG per se. Do let me know. Thanks! Posted on 09/25/09, 12:09 am |

I am being tested for MG, but have myelopathy and many neurological sx and I was sent to a well known accupuncturist. I do not know for MG because i am not sure I have it, but it was short term for me like a few hours. It was painful and wiped me out like I was hit by a train. I did it two times and the accupuncturist said it is not for me, that the leg weakness should have improved. I know everyone is different, but it seemed to be a lot of stress on my body. I think if you have time, it would not hurt to try, but if it reacts negative for you, you may be laid out for a few days. I felt like i ran a long marathon. Good luck and hope this may be helpful. I wanted to try it at least once. Gina

Well, I did give it a shot - anything that will help get rid of MG is worth trying :-)
I had the doc providing acupressure and acupuncture (practice termed Sujok - Korean) past 4 days. I had needles being stuck in the palm of my hands. The needle sticking was a bit painful but bearable. Unfortunately, i did not see any improvement (tho the doc was confident) in my diplopia/ptosis and gave it up.

I live for my acupuncture treatments, unfortunately I have not been able to afford them for a few months and I can tell the difference. I love my practitioner and I always feel much better after each treatment. I had to go once a week for four weeks then we dropped down to once a month. I do system treatments and not pain management treatments, they are quite different. I also have many diseases to cope with so I couldn't tell you which one it helps me with the most, but I know what I want for Christmas already, a bunch of treatments. lol
