I am sure when you talked with your local police that they were taking about entering you medical history in the 911 database. That way your information will be available to EMS/Fire/Police.
This is an excellent point that everyone should consider.
Something everyone should put on their phone is ICE "In Case of Emergency" example under your contact enter ICE-Wife then phone number. All public safety agencies should know to check your cell phone to see if you have ICE on your contacts.
I put a label on back of my phone Myasthenia Gravis Medical Alert and ICE.
Best Wishes,
Bruce
Am assuming 911 file is the same, but they didn't mention it on the phone. Would hope at least it's cross referenced (you just never know how govt. agencies file anything). Will find out the rest when I go in.
Never knew how importahnt this stuff was. Couple years ago when I had emergency surgery, the fire/emt that came to rescue me had no clue about me other than I was screaming and unable to move or talk (this was an internal rupture, not mg, but so stressful on my body). I heard them saying maybe I just had the stomach flu! Wondered if they were assuming I was a hysterical woman. One even told me if I wouldn't hold the vomit bag I could just go ahead and puke on myself (couldn't lift my hand by that point)! Even being undiagnosed, it's so important to have this info on file.
Great idea Bruce about ICE on your phone. Wish I had a phone. I wonder if there are any medic alert phone covers so it can be visible. There is going to some time when someone doesn't think to check.
and it will explane to anyone what is going on also go to the local milatary store and they will write evrything on a set of dog tags for abour 3 dollars you can out your condition docs name and phone number also any allergies and then some which is more than you get with a medical alert bracelet!!

On an aside, it turns out there are medic id tags for your pets too! Going to tell my neighbor who has a diabetic dog.
