My docs tell me not to ever take calcium supplements. They think my problem started with my pregnancies the babies took calcium from bones so ihad extra Ca floating in my blood stream. it settled in my kidneys. This was quite a few yrs ago.
Lately I have been experiencing twinges of pain in my right kidney (my worse one in previous yrs.). I am wondering if the prednisone which weakens ones bones might be throwing calcium into my bloodstream again. I have not asked my doctor about this yet. I see a new neuro in Jan as my old doc has left town.
I do get enuf calcium for bones in dairy products and other regular foods. I am small boned and can't afford to have them get very weak. So I might have to live with a few stones to keep the bones strong..... one of those pick your problem you think you can live with the easiest.
Don't know if this helps, but you are not alone. Can't really say if kidney stones make my Mg worse..no infections yet..been on cellcept for about 4 months now .. we shall see.
Oh I do drink cranberry juice alot when i for sure have a stone..it seemed to cut down on infections. and drink extra fluids in general to help pass the stone. Hope all goes well with your latest bout..take care. Karen
