Wow Candie! Thanks so much for sharing that news with us. I was just on their site and it looks very exciting! It seems like this vaccine would actually halt the autoimmune attack without affecting any other part of the immune system. It also sounds like they have already had some success with a derivative of their drug in patients with MS whose brain lesions were remarkably reduced. I'm very excited and will certainly be watching their site. Makes me feel safer knowing that their are new drugs with real potential in the making and hopefully not too far from production. Thanks for info. It is on experimental stage and if it get success, it will get 2 yrs to come in the market. I did experiments for more than 10 different genes. I should have done it long before. I never thought that injecting AchR gene this way can work. I will try to clone the gene now as a parellel experiment.. But i am not ready to experiment that on me.
Scientific concern in this type of treatment:
1. how the gene product will migrate to whole body from injection site?
2. Our immune system is already overactive. This type of injection normally generates immune response. That need to be taken into consideration.
3. some experiments also show that these type of products are cleared from the body within few days and sometimes within hours.
so we should be positive about the results and hope for the best

Sudhish, I really like hearing your perspective on these things. The prospect of an immune over-response does concern me. I had a pneumonia vaccination in December with the dead virus and had a huge inflammatory response. I think we all have immune systems that respond inappropriately so it will be interesting to watch and see where this goes. I hope the outcome is excellent.

Your groups scientist's concerns are legitimate. That is the problem with gene therapy in general (I used to work as a lab tech in gene therapy). She said we would be able to obtain it is it gets approval...

Doing these exp will take couple of months for me. May be 4-5 months. And after that where i will test that? On myself. I am not ready for that. It can be tried on terminally ill patient. but without any clinical trial, injecting DNA in any person is highly risky.
