I have been tested for MS, I was dx w/fibro in 1994-but as of 3 yrs ago have balance issues, twitching, muscle tightening, have had trouble in past w/swallowing,fatigue after very little physical work, facial fatigue and gum pain-being tested for MG again,so far 2 normal emgs and bloodwork taken again- i also have hyperreflexes-not sure if that fits in with MG-I am looking for any answers or similar stories. I have been to several different doctors and some shun and say there is nothing wrong to go home and exercise and get on with life. I can do very little physical work without pushing myself and usually I end up in bed for two days. I try to pace myself, which I learned w/ the fibro dx, but these last three years I have so many new symptoms that are not improving. I work four days a week at a desk so that is not bad, but I do get very stiff and the stairs I climb really bring out the weakness in my legs. I used to be very active and it is hard for my family to understand. Does this sound like MG? No eye problems at all.

Not only does it sound like MG, but the gum issues could also be leading into Trigeminal Neuralgia. I have had gum and jaw fatigue and pain for many years which is often misdiagnosed as "dental" issues. Last December I had intense facial stabbing pains and was diagnosed with TN. Look up the symptoms and see if they fit. Many people who tested for MG were given false negatives. The SUREST way to know is to have the blood sample sent to the Mayo Clinic. THEY are foremost in MG testing. Find a Neurologist who knows about MG.
God Bless.

thank you magda for answering my questions. i went to the dentist and he said my pain was due to small fiber nueropathy, which is what cleveland clinic said, but i went to cc for ms dx and it was negative, but was sent back home with no other tests for any other neurological problems. i will hang in and God Bless you also.

If your doctor is leaning toward MG, he could give you some mestinon (a safe, short-acting drug). If it is MG, it will help will your symptoms. If not, it won't. Not everyone is antibody positive so you could have MG without a positive blood test. Also, many people with MG have other autoimmune disorders like MS, lupus etc. You could be dealing with more than one condition. Just a thought. Good luck. Sarah
