Curious about others who experience MG symptoms outside of the eye orbits. My throat muscles act up on occasion since last fall. Am noticing an increase of activity and am interested in others' experiences and advice for handling. Thanks

" My MG symptoms took about 9 months to progress from very mild in the eyes and mouth to pretty bad all over my body. After my eyes, it affected my smile and my throat. I could not swallow food very well and I talked with a speech impediment. After that, my head started to feel to heavy to lift, I started dropping things like plates of food, and I had difficulty walking long distances or climbing stairs.

Not everyone gets it as bad as I did, but it does sound like your's could be progressing. The best advice I can give you is to be patient. It takes time to adjust the meds properly and it takes time to figure out how bad this will get. Do not get frustrated. It will get better.

The other advice I could give you is to adjust your lifestyle to fit with whatever issues you are experiencing. If your throat is weak and you can't swallow food very well, then try eating several small meals a day and eat things that pack in a lot of calories and are easy to swallow (pretty much anything moist and smushy is easier). You won't have to do this forever, but it can really help until you find the right treatments. "
