" I don't believe so. I believe to get disability you need to have a doctor's statement saying that you are too disabled to work. If you are not at this point, I wonder if a doctor's statement that you are "disabled to the point where you can no longer work enough hours to earn a living wage" would be enough. It might be worth a try. If you live close to a law school, call and ask if they have a legal aid clinic. Call the clinic and explain your situation to the intake person. Often you can get free legal assistance with disability claims. You can also try the BAR association for your state. (This is the agency that licenses attorneys to work in the state.) They often offer free legal services/advice. Good luck. Sarah "

" First check with the H/R dept at your company. They may have a short term disability policy in place with certain conditions. If not, apply for Social Security Disablility. They turn everyone down the first time, but once they do you can appeal. You can get an attorney to help you. If you have a good steady work history it will be easier for you to be approved. Once approved, there is a plan "ticket to work" that will allow you to work part time and still get some disability benefits. I'm sure there is more info on the Internet. www.socialsecurity.gov. Click on the Disability tab then Ticket to Work. Good luck. "
