Death announcements

It has long bothered me when an obit says someone died from MS. People rarely die FROM MS but they do die WITH MS and from complications of MS. It irritates me to read someone died of MS. MS isn't curable so once a person has it they die with it, but rarely from it.

This morning on the news they were announcing the H1N1 deaths...they phrased it so well. H1N1 virus can cause a person to catch a 2ndary bacteria, likely causing a fatal pnuemonia in some.

But most who get H1N1 its not a serious virus. For some it turns out to be.

The news is not announcing people who died from H1N1, much better they are announcing H1N1 associated deaths. Much better.

I don't think people die from MS...they die from complications of MS or MS associated deaths.

" I agree with you, Lynn. I guess on the one hand, it helps the cause if people think it is causing death, in this world we seem to lately only be interested in the really serious, obvious things. But on the other hand, it gives people the impression that we are done for.

I would rather see people saying "complications" with, or something along those lines. I do not want MS ignored, but I do want it in the proper place. JMO "

" I am with you. So few people really know about MS as it is, to give impressions that are incorrect is not helpful.

If someone catches pneumonia after catching a cold, would they say they died from a cold? "
