I just found out some good news and wanted to share it with you all-

My doctor has finally agreed to prescribe LDN for me!!!!!!

I am sooooo happy!!!!!!!

I had given her the information packet months ago but didn't hear back from her. And when I had an appointment with her on an unrelated issue, I asked her if she had had time to review the info. She apologized profusely that she had not but that she had talked to a neuro friend of hers in Jamaica (we live in the Caribbean) and he had never heard of such a treat a treatment for MS. I gently reminded her that this was not a widespread treatment and that the doctor who was successfully using this treatment included all his contact info and his CV in the information packet I had left her. She promised to look at it the following weekend and get back to me. Well, another month went by and nothing so, per her request in the past, I contacted her through email. I asked if there was a problem and if she really felt that naltrexone in such a small dose could actually do me any harm. And I also reiterated that this was the only MS treatment I am interested in and that I have heard so many good things about it from people who have been on it for awhile. Well, today she finally wrote back and said she would prescribe it! She said it may be difficult to get here but if it can't be gotten here, she will try Barbados or Jamaica. She said she would do everything in her power to get it for me!

I just want to encourage you all to really be your own health advocate with your doctor. Inform yourself and try to get a working relationship with your doctor on the treatment you are interested in. There is no cure for MS and no cut and dry approach to its management. A doctor has nothing to lose working with the desires of the patient in this regard and the patient has everything to gain. A doctor can certainly protect his patient from the snake oil salesmen but there is no reason he should not be willing to cooperate with a patient's reasonable request! And be persistent!

" Congratulations Carolline! I'm happy you were able to get the treatment you wanted. I am also on LDN since February of 07' and believe that it is helping me. I don't think it's the right treatment for everyone, but I do think that it helps many. I hope that you have good results with it. "

" Hi Carolline, Congrats,
My wife had M.S. since 1991. She passed away in March with pnemonia. I live in Canada and I don't know what LDN is. It's too late now, but I would love to let others know just what it is. (Maybe I do know, but LDN doesn't ring a bell with me). Please explain to me what it is, as here it might be named something else. Appreciate it.
Thanks, Wayne "

" Yeah for Caroline!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would think that you could mail order it from New York or Florida like some others on this site do.

I have been on LDN since June. I think a lot clearer and my moods are more stable and I am more calm. My hand tremors stopped and I can now tap my left foot, which doesn't seem like much to healthy people, but it was wonderful when I realized that I was doing it! I started out on 4.5 and still am on that dosage.

I hope that LDN makes you feel wonderful and stops progression! "

" Thanks for all the congrats and good wishes! I have been in contact with my doc via email and I think she may be pulling a fast one on me.

She says she is willing to prescribe it but is making it sound as if it will be difficult if not downright impossible for her to obtain it for me here. So, of course, I gave her the info about Skip's pharmacy that would mail it to me once they got the script from her. I have already anticipated her nay-saying by making a preemptive strike and checking into the customs laws regarding scripts through the mail. I somehow get the feeling that she is trying to appear to be cooperative and acting like she just has her hands tied regarding getting the drug for me. We will see!

waynewhite- LDN is low dose naltrexone and you can get more info about it at ldn.org and in the LDN support group here in the MS support group. "
