I have had this very problem for the past few weeks. I have a neuro appointment on the 23rd, so I'll see what he has to say. I didn't even work yesterday 'cause my legs kept me awake most of Sunday night. Even kicked poor lil' Norman (the cat) outta bed.

Yes, and it's miserable. The neuro prescribed Baclofen for me, 20mg x3, which works most of the time.

I had it for several weeks. My doctor gave me a prescription for valium, which worked fantastically. Luckily I no longer need to take it.

I was having terrible foot and back cramps at night. I knew I was not getting enough potassium in my diet (revealed by my entries into fitday) in fact, I was getting nowhere near the RDA. So, I increased my potassium by making my own sports drinks with nu salt, koolaide packets and stevia in water. After about a week, the cramps went away altogether. Nu salt is potassium and much easier (and cheaper) to use for potassium supplementation than the supps that only have about 99 mg per tablet. The current DRI for potassium is 4700mg

My wife use to get terrible cramps and spasms in her legs at night. She woke me several times through the night to rub them and re-position them, as she could not move her legs by herself anymore.
I think her doctor gave her Baclofen for it, but I'm not totally sure. She was on so many different meds. for so many different things, it was hard to keep track of what was for what. Wayne

Yes I had the restless leg syndrome. I have had the veinous doppler to check for anything abnormal but doc says it is just another symptom of MS. But can be other things. That is why the other things should be tested before assuming it is just another symptom. After taking my shots about six months ago I started the Avonex shot it has stopped but I now have the jello feeling legs. Sometimes I think I am going to collapse. So just ask your doc what there is for you to help. Every person is different.

I was having a terrible time with RLS at night. I tried baclofen but could not stay awake after taking it. My doctor switched me to clonazepam which I take at bedtime. It works great once it starts working I'm sound asleep and don't wake up till morning.
