" $1800 a month for betaseron, 300 a month for an oral chemo drug for crohn's, $65 every 3 months for birth control, about $150 a month for celebrex, plus vitamins

I'm going back to school in January mostly to just have a drug plan "

" Hi smathie2,
I notice you live in Ottawa, I live in Brantford (between Toronto & London) There is a program here in Ontario called Trilliam, don't know if you are aware of it, but they help to pay for medications. I'm not too sure how it works, I think you have to pay something every few months, but it's probably a lot less than you are paying for them now.
Just a thought that I wanted to shoot out to you. Might be worth looking into.
Let me know what you find out, and you could pass the info on to others.
Good Luck & Take Care
Wayne "

" I've head of trillian, But I'm luckily using the three free months of betaseron that my neurologist had because someone switched their medication. The rest of my medication I had stocked up on while I was still in school in July so I actually only have to pay for decembers medication.Come January I will be covered by two health plans so I won't have to pay anything at all. Thankfully my mother does investments for a living so I have been putting away $100 a month for the last four years of university and my investments have started to go up again. If they continue to grow like they have, I can just pay for the medication with the money I have made without touching what I've saved up. "

" Hi I was on Copaxone and my neurologist signed me up with Medco because at the time I didn't have ins. and I paid nothing...so check with your neuro and see if you can get the help with your Avonex I am sure the company that distributes it can help you. Hope this helps "

" When I had private insurance, I didn't have to pay for copax or betaseron because I qualified for both of their patient assistance programs. I think my copay would have been 300-600 a month. "

" I am just getting ready to start Copaxone. My co-pay is $50 a month but Shared Solutions will be covering that for me. I didn’t ask them for help but they offered it and said it was a way to keep their patients on their meds. My insurance is paying just over $2800 a month for my treatment.

Shared Solutions stressed that should I ever be without a job or insurance I should contact them right away and not stop taking my meds. They have special programs for those in need. "

" I know how much they say four shots of Avonex is without any insurance thank God I have Insurance. I have military ins. Mine only cost 9.00 for the copay. But without would be hold your breath take a seat and wait for it wait for it and 2800.00 now see if you can breath. it is unreal. But my meds cost around 110.00 a month right now. That is for everything and with Insurance no medicaid or medicare. "
